March 30, 2017, 07:28 AM

Goldman Sachs has appointed Greg Berube to oversee the investment bank's Americas Restructuring Group.

According to an internal company memo provided to ABL Advisor by a Goldman Sachs spokesperson, Berube will focus on continuing to grow Goldman's restructuring franchise by advising corporate and sponsor clients in distressed situations.

Berube replaces Roopesh Shah, who left the firm in February to join Evercore Partners, according to a report from The New York Times.

Berube joined Goldman as an analyst in 2004 in the leveraged finance capital markets team in New York. He transferred to London in 2006 to join the EMEA capital markets team and returned to New York in 2007. He was named managing director in 2015.

Separately, Clinton Ray was named head of restructuring in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, Goldman Sachs confirmed. According to his LinkedIn profile Ray served as a vice ppresident at J.P. Morgan from 2004-2007 before joining Morgan Stanley as a managing director. He left the firm for rival Goldman Sachs in 2016.
