A thick slice of Hollywood—from classic movie memorabilia to state-of-the art AV equipment—will be up for sale when Tiger Group conducts an online-only offering of professionally maintained cameras, lenses, electronics, accessories, movie memorabilia and other assets no longer needed for the continuing operations of Birns & Sawyer, Inc. Online bidding is now under way at www.SoldTiger.com and will close in rapid succession, live auction style on Dec. 7, beginning at 11:00 a.m. (PT).

Founded in 1954, Birns & Sawyer is Los Angeles’ original motion picture camera rental house. The company rented equipment used on classic movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Easy Rider and Bullitt. Today, Birns & Sawyer is a full-solution digital AV rental house for any kind of production. The December 7th event represents the latest in a series of sales and auctions from Tiger for AV companies based in Southern California and other parts of the U.S.

“This event presents an extraordinary opportunity for anyone from film production companies to serious amateurs to acquire top-shelf, professionally maintained gear at auction prices,” says Jeff Tanenbaum, Executive Managing Director of Tiger’s Commercial & Industrial division. “Film buffs will also jump at this singular chance to pick up historical memorabilia from a Hollywood institution.”

Cameras being auctioned include systems and bodies manufactured by Nokia, ARRI, Sony, Cannon and others. The sale also offers PL mount zoom lenses from Angenieux, and PL mount prime lenses from Century, Zeiss, Nikon and more. Bidders can also acquire HD monitors from TV Logic and Panasonic; and digital wireless and data storage from Apple, Black Magic, and Teradek and others.

Accessories, heads and tripods up for sale include sliders, easy rigs, follow focus, matte boxes, matte box accessories and more. A Sachtler Video 20 tripod system, Libec Mini Jiba and Porta Jibs, Cineped cinesliders and other equipment are also available.

Lighting equipment on the auction block include more than 350 LED and fluorescent fixtures, tubes and accessories by names like Kino Flo, Litepanel, Nila, Filmgear, and Mini-Flo. More than 300 four- and-five-wire banded cables in various lengths will also be offered for sale, along with Bates splitters and extensions, hard and soft threefers, lug-to-cam adapters, and more.

Contemporary and classic movie memorabilia include statues from Mask, Edward Scissorhands, and Terminator; a Popeye min slate handmade on set, a WW2 Halftrack with Arri 2B camera and crew Mount Everest oxygen bottle artifact, and framed posters of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Cannes and other stars and events.

Available on special consignment are intercom and communications equipment from Bosch, RTS and Telex, including bay station/access points, wired and wireless beltpacks, programmable modular user stations, and other equipment.
Previews of the assets being offered will be held at the Birns & Sawyer facility located at 5275 Craner Ave., North Hollywood, on December 2 and 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (PT).

In celebration of the December release of the James Franco and Seth Rogan film “The Disaster Artist," the rental company will present a complimentary Birns & Sawyer cap to every successful bidder. The cap is a ringer for the one worn in the film by Seth Rogan. “The Disaster Artist” is based on the cult classic “The Room,” by Tommy Wiseau, which was shot in the Birns & Sawyer garage-stage.
