In Memoriam: Industry Mourns Loss of Theodore Kompa, Sr.

The following notice appeared The Times of Trenton: Theodore John Kompa Sr. died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. We mourn the loss of a successful, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, husband, life partner and friend who departed us surrounded by his family. Husband of the late Eleanor Kompa, he is survived by his children, Theodore Kompa Jr. (Amy), Claudia Kompa, Christopher Kompa (Daniela); five grandchildren, Kristin, Theodore III, Olivia, Justin, Ariana and Bruno; sister, Joan Doyle; nieces, Paula Doyle, Deanna Doyle; nephews, Chuck Korostynski, Mark Scomo and Gary Doyle (deceased), and life partner, Denise Cram.

Raised in South Jersey, the son of late John and Martha (Mojta) Kompa. In his early years, Ted attended St. Joe's High School, where he was an excellent basketball and football player. Ted attended Villanova University on a full football scholarship, where he graduated with a BS in economics and accounting. He further went on to receive an MBA with a concentration in finance from Drexel University. In 1964, he started his professional career at Fre-Air Corporation, John Talcott, Inc., Heritage Bank, Union Bank and First Fidelity Bank.

In 1995, he parlayed his banking experience and started a commercial finance company named Business Alliance Capital Corporation. After 13 successful years, in 2008, he moved on and focused his efforts as chairman of the Commercial Finance Association and as a consultant. He was widely respected for his knowledge in the Commercial Finance world and enjoyed a lifelong love of spending time at the beach with his children and grandchildren, golf, fishing, boating, oil painting and world traveling. A gifted athlete, Ted excelled in basketball and football, but it was his "hole in one" at Trenton Country Club that was his latest crowning achievement. All those who knew, loved and admired Ted will forever miss his smile, quick wit and love of family.

The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St, Princeton, NJ 08542. Interment will follow at Lawrenceville Cemetery. Calling hours for will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
