Structured Finance Duo Join Squire Patton Boggs’ Growing Transatlantic Practice

September 25, 2025, 07:14 AM

Squire Patton Boggs announced that Trish O’Donnell has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner while Nathan Menon has joined as a director in London. Both join the firm’s growing global Structured Finance group from Reed Smith.

Their arrival follows that of Ranajoy Basu who joined the firm in July from McDermott Will & Emery to serve as Global Head of Structured Finance.

“Trish and Nathan are both respected practitioners with strong cross-border experience who complement our strategic expansion efforts aimed at increasing the scale of capabilities we provide clients across specialty areas of the financial services sector,” said Global Financial Services Practice Leader Jim Barresi. “Our new team members are off to a fast start and the response from clients has been gratifying to see.”

Over the past 12 months the firm has made over a dozen hires into its Financial Services Practice including Mr. Ranajoy, Global Head of Private Capital and Direct Lending Gabriel Yomi Dabiri and a corresponding team in New York and Washington DC; Global Head of Financial Regulation Monica Gogna and a corresponding team in London and funds specialist Cassandra W. Borchers.

Dual-qualified as a NY attorney and a solicitor admitted in England and Wales, Ms. O’Donnell advises clients on cross-border transactions with a focus on structured finance, specialty finance, and private credit. She has particular experience in financing esoteric assets through ABS and private placement transactions and experience in highly structured transactions (including repacks, structured repos, receivables financings, and bespoke structured financings). She often advises clients on transactions involving blockchain technology, including "on-chain" securitization, real world asset tokenization and decentralized finance (“de-fi”) transactions.

Qualified in England and Wales, Mr. Menon specializes in structured finance including securitization, forward flow and non-performing loan sale and acquisition transactions. He is particularly experienced at advising corporate service providers, trustees, servicers and other market participants on public securitization mandates and first-time market entrants on a range of structured finance matters, including forward flow transactions and note program issuances. He also advises on real estate-backed securitizations and social impact finance transactions, such as development impact bond programs.

Ranajoy Basu, Global Head of Structured Finance said, “Trish and Nathan each bring substantial expertise advising on a range of complex financing transactions, which perfectly complements the cross-border structured finance and private capital team we are building. Their depth of expertise further strengthens our ability to deliver creative solutions for clients across the global financial markets.”

Commenting on her move to the firm, Ms. O’Donnell said, “From my initial conversations with the firm it was clear that there was a vision and strong commitment to expand the firm’s financial services offering in key areas, including structured finance and private capital. There is a great deal of momentum behind these efforts on a global basis, and I am excited to contribute to the team’s continued success.”

Mr. Menon commented, “The firm’s established global presence coupled with its focus on growing its financial services practice creates a great platform for me to develop my practice and further serve my clients’ needs.  I look forward to helping build the firm’s structured finance capabilities alongside Ranajoy, Trish and my new colleagues.”
