Amherst Partners Announces Two Senior-Level Hires

Date: Oct 21, 2016 @ 07:32 AM

Amherst Partners announced continued growth of the firm’s Restructuring Advisory and Investment Banking practices with the recent arrival of two new, senior-level hires: James Morden and Matthew Feldman.

The addition of Morden and Feldman to Amherst’s leadership team represents a key step in the firm’s overall growth strategy, bolstering both industry expertise and execution capability. Being able to lure these talented individuals away from Wall Street firms and bring them both home to the Midwest is a direct reflection of Amherst’s positive momentum in the marketplace.

James Morden, Managing Director, Restructuring Advisory
With more than fifteen years of interim management, financial advisory, and restructuring experience, Morden specializes in guiding companies in operational and financial distress. He has advised on complex engagements for companies, secured lenders, unsecured creditors, and public sector entities.

Morden has worked with companies with revenues ranging from the low millions to $4.5 billion and has enhanced value for all parties by improving operational performance, designing restructuring strategies, identifying cost savings, developing and evaluating business plans, executing distressed sales and managing liquidity in times of crisis.

Morden’s industry experience includes manufacturing, home building, retail, technology, energy, consumer products, financial institutions, sports and entertainment, education, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, printing & graphics, and outsourced services. Prior to joining Amherst Partners, he was a Director in the Corporate Restructuring group at Alvarez & Marsal in New York City.

“James was an incredibly strategic hire for us,” said Partner and Restructuring Group Leader Sheldon Stone. “His overall acumen is without peer and his broad industry experience is a great fit for our growth plan. It will allow us to build on the strength we already have in so many key areas and to continue to deliver the outstanding results our clients have come to expect.”

Matthew Feldman, Director, Investment Banking
Feldman has nearly ten years of experience leading corporate finance transactions across a range of industries including consumer products and retail, building products, industrial products, and healthcare. He has extensive experience in all aspects of deal execution and management, including sell-side, buy-side, and capital raising engagements for clients ranging in size from middle-market businesses to large, publicly held companies.

Prior to joining Amherst Partners, he was a Vice President at Moelis & Company in New York City and also worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at Peter J. Solomon Company.

“We are exceptionally pleased to have Matt join our team,” said Partner Gary N. Lewis. “He brings outstanding Wall Street experience and a track-record of success in some of our most aggressive growth areas, including healthcare and the consumer products and retail sectors. Matt is a great fit for our team and our culture, and we know he’s going to be a major asset for our clients.”

With a track record that spans over 20 years, Amherst is one of the most reputable boutique investment banking, corporate restructuring, and management advisory firms in the Midwest. Among its core services, Amherst provides middle-market companies with hands-on involvement from senior-level advisors with deep expertise in business divestitures, acquisitions, capital raises, and other corporate finance transactions.
