Otterbourg P.C. has named Thomas P. Duignan co-chair of the firm’s Finance Department.

Duignan represents many prominent banks, commercial finance companies and other institutional lenders in connection with a wide range of transactions. He will join co-chair David Morse in guiding a financial group at Otterbourg that is firmly established as an industry leader.

“Tom has played an important leadership role in the department for many years and has helped develop some of Otterbourg’s most significant client relationship,” said Richard L. Stehl, Otterbourg’s Chairman. “Tom’s keen intellect, devoted work ethic, professionalism and sensitivity to client satisfaction are among the ideals to which we encourage Otterbourg attorneys to aspire. Tom leads by example. We are pleased to recognize his many accomplishments with this promotion.”

Duignan specializes in the structuring and documentation of complex lease and loan transactions, including asset-based, cash flow and structured finance transactions, as well as loan workouts and restructurings, and portfolio acquisitions and dispositions. He has wide ranging experience with syndicated and single lender transactions, multicurrency transactions, cross border transactions, letters of credit and intercreditor arrangements. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Duignan worked as a Certified Public Accountant. He is a Regent in the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.

“I appreciate the firm’s confidence in my leadership and look forward to working with David to continue the financial group’s success while developing innovative ways to enhance the services we provide our clients,” Mr. Duignan said. “While I have spent a substantial portion of my career at the firm, I recognize that all great organizations must continue to evolve and grow, and I believe that I bring some fresh views to the table which will enhance the legal services we offer to our clients.”

The financial practice’s clients include major international banks, regional banks, asset-based lenders, finance companies, insurance companies, business development companies, factors, hedge funds, private equity and specialty lenders. The firm is actively engaged in a range of lending transactions, both in size and nature. The firm’s expertise includes secured and unsecured financings, whether first lien or second lien, senior or subordinated, single lender, unitranche or widely syndicated. It also is active in trade finance, receivables purchases and structured finance. The firm has developed a particular expertise in structuring and documenting secured cross-border credit facilities.
