Grant Thornton Names Margulies as Managing Partner for South Florida

Date: Nov 17, 2021 @ 07:14 AM

Grant Thornton named Mark Margulies as its managing partner for South Florida, including the firm’s offices in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale, effective immediately.

Margulies is an experienced leader whose accounting career spans more than 30 years. He most recently served as a senior partner in Grant Thornton’s Corporate Tax Reporting and Advisory practice. Prior to that, he served as the national Tax managing partner for Privately-Held Business and as the Tax practice leader for the Southeast region.

“Mark is a talented and accomplished leader with decades of experience and a strong reputation for client service,” said David Platt, managing partner for Grant Thornton’s East region. “He has long been synonymous with superior client service: Businesses trust him to deliver nuanced solutions to their most pressing challenges, and colleagues trust him to offer steady, kind and effective leadership. I know his wealth of experience will pay dividends for our South Florida offices and the firm more broadly.”

Margulies joined Grant Thornton in 1999 after a successful nine-year stint at another national professional services firm. He possesses in-depth consulting experience in accounting for income taxes, tax accounting method selection and mergers and acquisition planning. He has worked interchangeably between public and private companies, focused on industry work in manufacturing and distribution, technology, financial services, and media and entertainment. Margulies helped start Grant Thornton’s National Client Experience Council and has long been recognized as one of the firm’s leading client service partners.

Margulies succeeds Seth Siegel, a longtime leader at Grant Thornton, who was recently appointed CEO-elect by the firm’s Partnership Board. Siegel will succeed the firm’s current CEO, Brad Preber, when Preber retires on July 31, 2022 — after almost two decades in leadership roles at the firm.

Margulies received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Miami. He is active with his alma mater, and most recently served as the chair for the university’s Accounting Advisory Council. He also spends considerable time giving back to the South Florida community through leadership roles in charitable causes like the Miami Dolphins Challenge Cancer, which funds innovative cancer research in South Florida.
