Alvarez & Marsal Taxand Hires Roche, Strengthens Digital Tax Strategies and Capabilities

Date: May 25, 2023 @ 07:40 AM

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand is strengthening its digital tax strategy team. With an approach that addresses external and internal needs, the firm is developing bespoke technology tools for clients while focusing on further technology enhancements to bolster client-centric process and drive sustainable operational improvements.

Demonstrating A&M’s commitment to customized digitization that automates tactical processes and amplifies value creation opportunities, A&M Taxand has hired Matthew Roche as a Managing Director with the Digital Tax Services team. In this role, Roche focuses on critical technology design and development for streamlining A&M’s tax operations, improving delivery models, and concentrating professionals’ time as strategic advisors.

Roche’s hire complements A&M Taxand’s focus on creating technology enabled services for today’s complex and highly regulated tax function.

Working in concert with Cody Dixon, an A&M Managing Director, Roche furthers A&M’s ability to serve as trusted advisor for assessing tax departments’ business and technology needs. A&M Taxand’s development and implementation of bespoke technologies, along with third-party software solutions, will help drive change for critical areas including Sales and Use tax, Research Credits & Incentives and Global Trade and Customs.

A&M Taxand’s digital strategy aligns with the firm’s digital approach exemplified by A&MPLIFY, the firm’s dedicated digital transformation group. A&MPLIFY’s systems designers, business technologists, data scientists, operating managers and artificial intelligence (AI) tools support digital tools for people, process and technology concerns.

Ernie Perez, a Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M Taxand, remarked, “As trusted tax advisors that keep pace with clients’ evolving needs, our digital tax strategy underscores our commitment to solve clients’ challenges with pragmatism and ingenuity. The enhanced insights and greater level of professional engagement derived from our digital approach deepens our client centric focus.”

Tyler Horton, a Managing Director and U.S. leader of A&M Taxand’s Core Tax Services, added, “In a complex, changing landscape, fraught with operational challenges, clients require bespoke technology enhancements to drive value and growth. A&M Taxand’s Digital Tax Services provides long-term, agile, compliant answers that transcend a solely transactional approach.”

Dixon, said, “Matt’s background dovetails with our evolving tax technology capabilities, operational know how and results-oriented mindset. Tax functions are increasingly required to do more with less, maximize the finance function’s return on investment and comply with increasing reporting requirements. We are developing custom software and tools to drive automation and efficiencies along with helping clients unlock the value of their third-party systems. Matt’s joining augments our ability to create bespoke technologies that address clients’ specific needs and anticipated concerns.”

Prior to joining A&M, Roche served with PwC, where he designed, developed, and deployed enterprise technology solutions across all aspects of the tax practice. Roche earned a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from the University of Michigan. He holds an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) enrolled agent credential.
