Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) appointed Sohin Chinoy as a Managing Director in the Automotive & Industrials Group (AIG). This appointment follows the growth of AIG under leader Rick Kozole, and bolsters AIG's record for delivering operational performance improvement and enterprise transformations with real impact.

Mr. Chinoy brings more than two decades of consulting, real-world strategy and M&A experience across a wide field of engagements and management decision levels. He advises global clients in transportation and logistics sectors, supply chain management, industrial automation and robotics technology, commercial real estate, defense and aerospace, and financial services. A sample of Mr. Chinoy’s leadership engagements include:

  • An enterprise-wide managerial costing strategy for a $70B+ logistics network, with a restructuring of the air-to-air distribution network and identification of $300M+ of annualized savings.
  • A fleet integration strategy for the merger of two major rent-a-car firms.
  • $5B+ of commercial and operational M&A diligence and integration work across the private equity industry.
  • Multiple cost improvement initiatives across the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and aerospace sectors.
  • A telematics growth strategy for a $30B+ P&C insurer.

Rick Kozole, Managing Director and North American Leader of AIG commented, “Sohin’s decades of experience evaluating and spearheading strategy alternatives aligns with A&M’s operational heritage. He has helped clients realize value from implementing large scale transformation while managing the challenges of highly targeted, tactical improvements that streamline operations and drive growth.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chinoy was CEO of Volley Automation, an advanced robotics company focused on spatial optimization in parking and storage. Before that he served as Corporate Senior Vice President of Strategy & Transformation at real estate giant CBRE. While in that role he developed CBRE’s first global digital strategy, led the global data science and venture investment functions, and delivered various initiatives across the executive agenda. Previously he served as a Principal at Kearney, focused on corporate strategy, M&A and operational improvement across multiple sectors.

Brian Irwin, Managing Director and head of AIG’s Automotive sector team, stressed A&M’s industry commitment, “Sohin understands the automotive and industrial sectors. He is well positioned to help our clients navigate today’s reality of supply disruptions, labor shortages, energy and technology transitions, and economic uncertainty. With volatility comes opportunity. A&M remains focused on helping clients address changing market demands and overcome disruption as the industry navigates the massive transformation to EVs.”

Mr. Chinoy earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
