Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Group Appoints George to Lead Health System Practice

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced that Chris George will join its Healthcare Industry Group  as a Managing Director to lead its  Health Systems Practice. George’s appointment builds on the Healthcare Industry Group’s legacy of provider expertise and services and with his healthcare transformation experience, continue to deliver best-in-class, actionable solutions for clients.
 
With more than 30 years of experience, George is known as a transformative healthcare leader among hospital and health system chief executives. He has worked closely with CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and boards of directors on transformation strategies, including financial improvements and digital and innovation strategy implementation. His appointment represents the next phase of A&M Healthcare Industry Group’s expansion and evolving growth strategy for meeting and anticipating client needs in across a continuously changing healthcare landscape.
 
Martin McGahan, an A&M Managing Director and Head of the firm’s Healthcare Industry Group, stated, “Healthcare providers are facing multiple headwinds, including health equity issues, the integration of new technologies and rising costs. Before joining A&M, George was a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting in the Health Solutions Practice and Leader of the Commercial Healthcare Practice. Previously, he founded Think First, a boutique consulting firm, focused on healthcare transformation for health systems and physician practice management companies. He has also held executive roles at the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of Texas San Antonio Medical School. George started his career in the consulting practice of GE Healthcare, formerly IDX Systems Corporation.

George earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Stonehill College and a master’s degree in computer information systems from Bentley University. He is a board member of the Finance Committee of Beth Israel Lahey Health, a 13-hospital system based in Boston, and a member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and holds their CPHIMS certification.
