Hilco Industrial, LLC announced that Mark A. Smith has joined the firm, focusing on the metals, mining and adjacent sectors. Mr. Smith is based in Northbrook IL, reporting to Tom Greco and Steve Wolf, Co-CEOs of Hilco Industrial.

Mr. Smith joins Hilco Industrial from Houlihan Lokey, where he was Global Head of Metals and Mining. Prior to Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Smith was serving as managing director in the metals & mining practice at HSBC Securities in New York. He has also held senior executive roles at FTI Consulting, ABN AMRO/Royal Bank of Scotland and GE Capital, among others.

“Mark brings a tremendous range of deal making experience to Hilco Industrial, having worked on M&A transactions, strategic advisory, capital raising, valuation, and numerous related investment banking activities over a nearly 20-year career,” said Mr. Greco. “We are thrilled that Mark is joining Hilco Industrial and we’re certain his deep experience in the Metals and Mining sector will be invaluable as we continue to expand our overall global asset monetization platform,” Mr. Wolf added.

Mr. Smith expressed enthusiasm for his new role indicating that Hilco Industrial is a market leader that consistently stands apart from the competition with monetization strategies that are second to none.  “I was drawn to Hilco Industrial because it has the capital, the appetite and the resources to assume the risk with a willingness to guarantee sale results.”  said Mr. Smith. “I look forward to enhancing the in-depth sector expertise in metals and mining as well as the broad industry knowledge that Hilco Global regularly delivers to its clients.”

Smith holds a BBA in finance and economics from Indiana University and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
