The Turnaround Management Association (TMA) has selected Walsh Partner Sydney J. Darling as the recipient of their 2019 Emerging Leader Award. The peer-nominated award recognizes a professional each year who brings vibrancy and energy to volunteer organizations, with innovative perspectives and fresh ideas, and honors their contribution to TMA Global.

Darling serves on the Board of Directors and is currently the VP of Network Programming for the TMA New Jersey Chapter. Sydney has served on numerous TMA Global committees and as a chair of TMA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Symposium for 2018 and 2019.

“We are so proud of Sydney for this recognition,” said Walsh Partner Stephen V. Falanga. “She brings that same energy to our clients every day. Her resourcefulness, problem-solving and interpersonal skills contribute to her effective advocacy and enable her to propose thoughtful and creative legal solutions.”

Darling’s practice encompasses both litigation and transactional matters in the areas of business and commercial law, financial services, risk management, insolvency and real estate. She focuses on the representation of creditors, debtors, chapter 11 trustees, liquidating trustees, asset purchasers, and other interested parties in bankruptcy cases and adversary proceedings, as well as lenders, distressed debt investors and other creditors in connection with the disposition of non-performing loans and assets outside of bankruptcy, including prosecuting real estate, article 9 and tax sale foreclosures.

Complementing her litigation practice, Darling has experience representing property owners, developers and landlords in a wide range of commercial and real estate transactions, counseling parties in connection with the acquisition, disposition, and improvement of real property, preparing non-consolidation opinion letters, and negotiating and drafting various forms of real estate and construction contracts.

The award will be presented to Sydney at The Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio on September 26.
