SMBC Nikko Securities America Hires Spivack as Managing Director, Deputy Head of Capital Markets

SMBC Nikko Securities America, a member of SMBC Group, announced that Paul Spivack has joined the firm as Managing Director, Deputy Head of Capital Markets. In this role, he will work closely with the firm’s debt business, providing his advice and counsel to help drive further growth for this unit. He will report to Scott Ashby, Managing Director, Head of Capital Markets and Investment Banking, Senior Deputy President.

Paul joins SMBC Nikko Securities America from Morgan Stanley, where he spent the past 17 years, most recently as a Managing Director, Joint Head of Fixed Income Capital Markets (FICM) Americas and Head of Latam Debt Capital Markets, a role he served in since 2018. He also served as Managing Director, Global Head of FICM Syndicate and as a member of the Global Capital Markets (GCM) Operating Committee. In these roles, Paul jointly managed a group of more than 100 professionals across the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Asia. These teams were responsible for the origination and execution of debt securities, loans (including acquisition finance), derivatives, liability management, and securitization.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2004, Paul served in various positions with Hawk Global Advisors, Bank of America Securities, Bear Stearns, Credit Suisse First Boston, UBS, Coudert Brothers, and the office of Hon. Ralph K. Winter. Paul earned his Juris Doctor from Yale Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University.
