Truist Securities Appoints Leaders in Technology, ESG, and Private Institutional Capital Investment Banking

Truist Securities announced the recent appointments of three new investment banking group heads, expanding and strengthening the firm’s client coverage and commitment to offering a high-touch advisory approach.  

  • Stellar Kim Tucker has joined Truist Securities as group head of Technology Investment Banking overseeing teams that serve the cloud technology, fintech, software and internet, martech and IT services industries. She will also serve as head of Truist Securities’ Miami office.

  • Julie Bennett Bunuan joined the firm in January as group head of ESG Advisory and Intra Industries coverage, leading ESG-focused advisory across industry sectors to support clients navigating the strategic and financing challenges in the transition to a low-carbon economy and also supporting companies enabling a more sustainable economy.

  • Ileana Chu has been promoted to group head of Private Institutional Capital, responsible for financial sponsors and alternative capital investors, including growth equity, venture capital, credit funds, and infrastructure funds.

Tucker brings more than 25 years of experience in investment banking, financial services and corporate development, and most recently served as executive vice president and head of Corporate Development and Strategic Initiatives at HCL Technologies. Her key areas of focus included next generation technologies in digital transformation, analytics, cloud technology, IT services, and horizontal and vertical software. Prior to HCL, she led global businesses at Goldman, Sachs & Co., UBS Securities, and Foros Group, a boutique M&A advisory firm. Tucker also was the chief financial officer at a hedge fund related to Tiger Management. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Northwestern University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.  
 
Bennett Bunuan has more than 20 years of corporate finance, capital structure, financial risk management, and ESG advisory and execution experience. Prior to joining Truist, she led the ESG and Strategic Solutions Group for the Americas at HSBC, advising domestic and global corporates, financial institutions and investors, to develop solutions supporting the integration of sustainability into business and financial strategy. Previously, she held positions at Barclays and Lehman Brothers. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wellesley College and an MBA from the London Business School. She is based in New York.

A 25-year investment banking professional, Chu joined Truist Securities in 2014. Since 2018, she served as head of the Structured Products Group. Previously, Chu was a managing director in Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets (DCM) originations, and served as the head of Debt Private Placements. Prior to joining Truist, she was head of the esoteric/structured solutions syndicate at Deutsche Bank Securities and worked in ABS syndicate/trading at Banc of America Securities. Chu earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Economics from the University of Rochester, a J.D. from the State University of New York School of Law, and an MBA from the William E. Simon School of Business Administration, University of Rochester. She is based in Atlanta.
