November 11, 2022, 07:51 AM

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced the appointment of Jonathan Marshall as Managing Director to lead its North America Forensic Technology Services within the firm’s Disputes and Investigations practice. Marshall’s joining augments the firm’s ability to manage evidence and intelligence in contentious legal and regulatory situations and demonstrates its commitment to helping clients solve for complex problems.

Throughout Marshall’s forensic technology career, he has served as an expert on ediscovery-related issues and has advised legal teams on data-driven events in litigation, investigations, and regulatory actions. Many of these have involved solving complex cross-border disputes and investigations, in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy, France, China, Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, Switzerland, and The Bahamas. His experience ranges across industry sectors, including construction, consumer goods, defense, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, and technology.

Prior to joining A&M, Marshall served as Senior Managing Director and U.S. Discovery practice leader with Ankura Consulting Group. Previously, Marshall was a Managing Director at Navigant Consulting’s London office where he was a leader in the legal technology solutions practice.

Phil Beckett, a Managing Director and Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Forensic Technology Services, said, “Data is critical to everyone, and this equally applies when faced with contentious legal and regulatory challenges.  Efficiencies, transparency and rapid conflict resolution are critical in empowering parties to deal with these challenges successfully.  This demands a data-driven approach that mitigates risk and reduces both time and costs. Our clients can rely on Jon’s knowledge of cutting-edge discovery and forensics and industry-leading data analysis tools to uncover hidden insights for making informed decisions as related to legal and regulatory matters.”

Jerry Dent, a Managing Director and North American Practice Leader of A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice, said, “Jon’s experience advising businesses and legal teams on all manner of data driven events related to litigation, arbitration and regulatory action will help clients drive business results, rapidly resolve conflicts and maximize value. His approach aligns with our operational heritage and results-oriented mindset.”

Marshall earned a bachelor’s degree in history from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a member of The Sedona Conference, Working Group 1 for Electronic Document Retention and Production and Working Group 6 for International Electronic Information Management, Discovery & Disclosure.
