December 13, 2023, 07:38 AM

Briar Capital Real Estate Fund announced the hiring of Larry Ellis as Senior Vice President, Business Development. Based in Houston, TX, Ellis will be responsible for sourcing new business in Texas and the Southwest United States.

Ellis brings with him years of experience in both commercial and corporate lending having covered the Southwest for leading regional and national banking organizations like Regions Bank, KeyBanc Capital Markets, BBVA, and Bank of America. He also has experience in asset-based lending working for Fleet Capital as well as having partnered with the various ABL teams at each of the banking institutions he worked at.

Having previously been President of the Houston Turnaround Management Association, a former board member of the Secured Finance Network, Houston Chapter, and a long-time member of the Association for Corporate Growth, Ellis is one of the most well respected and experienced lenders in all of Houston.

“We are thrilled to add a lending professional like Larry to the team,” said Jeff Van Sickle, President of Briar Capital Real Estate Fund LLC. “His extensive industry experience, relationships with referral sources, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to expand our industry leading efforts in the asset-based, real estate lending space."

“I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity,” said Ellis. “Having been familiar with Briar Capital for over 20 years, I have always admired their unique asset-based lending approach and capabilities. Their ability to finance commercial, owner-occupied real estate when others cannot, especially in this environment, is unmatched and I look forward to contributing to their continued success.”
