Hogan Lovells announced that Rupa Briggs has joined as a capital markets partner in the firm’s Corporate & Finance practice group in the New York office. Rupa joins from Cooley, where she represented issuers and investment banks in capital markets transactions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rupa to Hogan Lovells,” said James Doyle, Global Head of the Corporate & Finance Practice group. “Her reputation and experience in the market as a strong securities and corporate governance practitioner makes her the perfect addition to our firm. Her decision to join aligns with our goal of ensuring we maintain our market-leading reputation and continue to grow our robust public company offering.”

Rupa brings a deep understanding of counselling public companies and their boards on complex securities and corporate law matters, including SEC disclosure and compliance, corporate governance, and strategic corporate relationships. She represents clients in the full range of capital markets transactions, including initial public offerings and follow-on equity offerings, de-SPAC transactions, public and private high-yield, investment-grade and convertible debt offerings, and private placements of equity and convertible securities. Her experience ranges across multiple sectors, including technology, life sciences, insurance, and consumer products.

“Rupa adds an extensive and differentiated background to our capital markets offering and we’re thrilled that she’ll be joining our Band 1 Chambers USA-ranked Securities Regulation practice,” said John Beckman, Head of Capital Markets, Americas. “With experience in a broad range of complex securities, corporate law, and foreign private issuer work, Rupa will help strengthen our capabilities as we seek to expand our cross-border securities representations.”

Briggs remarked, “I am thrilled to join Hogan Lovells as it continues its growth and momentum in the New York office. The opportunity to collaborate with recognized and trusted practitioners in the securities regulation and public company advisory space, along with the firm’s leading Corporate & Finance practice and collegial and positive culture provide an ideal platform to expand my practice.”

“Rupa is a well-known and highly sought after practitioner in the New York legal community,” said Michael Kuh, New York Office Managing Partner. “We look forward to working with her as we continue building our footprint in a market that plays such a pivotal role in the global economy. In the last three years we have added more than [25] corporate, finance, and litigation partners to our New York office and Rupa will be an important part of our team as we expand our New York presence.”

Briggs earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School where she was a James Kent Scholar and member of the Columbia Law Review. She earned her A.B. from Princeton University, magna cum laude.
