Revitalization Partners Senior Directors Kern Gillette and Jan Heald Robinson have earned the Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) accreditation from the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). The credential demonstrates the highest standards of the turnaround and restructuring consultation profession.

Accreditation is a highly valued and objective measure of a turnaround professional’s experience, knowledge and integrity that is deemed to be required to conduct corporate renewal work. As a CTP, a turnaround professional is recognized as possessing a proven track record and years of experience in working with companies or large business units that are in financial crisis.

To attain the certification, candidates must hold, or have held, positions such as CEO, Chief Restructuring Officer, Turnaround Team Leader, Receiver or Interim Manager during a turnaround.

Mr. Gillette’s experience includes nearly two decades as an operator in the C-suite. As President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Cinnabon, Inc., the national food retailer and franchisor, Mr. Gillette designed and executed the company’s successful turnaround and sale. As Chief Executive Officer of Molbak’s, a regional specialty retailer, he executed a successful creditor composition plan and led the company through reorganization. He also guided Olympic Boat Centers through the bankruptcy process as Chief Financial Officer. He has consulted distressed businesses nationwide since 2008 through senior-level positions with Scouler and Company, Alvarez and Marsal, and now Revitalization Partners.

The Washington native, a retired CPA, has experience with a wide range of capital structures including family owned, private equity, ESOP, public, and cooperative models. All stem from his work with distressed companies, creditors, and lenders nationwide. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Washington and earned his MBA from Eastern Washington University.

Ms. Heald Robinson is a former corporate finance executive with extensive experience in working with banks, boards, and investors on restructuring and change management initiatives. She is well known in Pacific Northwest business circles for her expertise in debt and equity financing, M&A due diligence, finance, sales, and performance management. Her engagements not only span the U.S., but international markets in Europe and Asia as well.

Prior to joining Revitalization Partners in 2010, Ms. Heald Robinson served as a Director at Hamstreet & Associates. That followed her tenure as chief financial officer at a VC-funded start-up and VP of Finance role at a chip software testing company serving the semi-conductor industry. She received her B.A. in Economics from Portland State University, where she went on to study accounting before earning her CPA license from the state of Oregon.

RP Principal Al Davis said, “Any company that has benefited from the counsel and guidance that Jan and Kern have provided - often in exceedingly difficult or demanding situations - knows the caliber of work they do. It is gratifying to see that talent and experience formally recognized by the TMA.”
