March 24, 2014, 07:36 AM

FocalPoint Partners announced the addition of Michael Fixler as Managing Director. He joins FocalPoint’s growing Chicago office to further develop its efforts in restructuring and special situations.

Fixler has spent his career advising companies, creditors and other stakeholders in a variety of distressed and special situations. His experience includes advising both public and private companies, hedge funds, lender groups, committees and buyers of distressed assets. Fixler’s deep industry experience includes distressed M&A, debt for equity conversions, and in- and out-of-court restructurings. Prior to joining FocalPoint, Fixler was a Managing Director at Variant Capital Advisors (an affiliate of Conway MacKenzie) and a Partner at Candlewood Partners.

FocalPoint Managing Director Rajesh Sood stated "Mike has developed a stellar reputation in the middle market restructuring community and we are thrilled to have him join the FocalPoint team.”

Thomas Mills added, “Mike’s technical capabilities and track record in restructuring advisory will be a great addition to the expertise and reputation that FocalPoint has already established in the marketplace.”

“FocalPoint has established itself as a growing and well-respected investment bank with an entrepreneurial spirit,” added Fixler. “The firm’s broad service offerings for middle market companies and depth of industry expertise provide a comprehensive approach to M&A and capital market transactions for both performing and distressed companies. I am excited to join the team and continue building on the track record of success they have already achieved.”

Fixler holds a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami.

FocalPoint is an independent investment bank with offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, private placements (both debt and equity), and financial restructurings/distressed situations. The firm’s primary focus is working with middle-market companies.
