Alvarez & Marsal Augments Insurance Advisory Offering With New Hire

Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Scott Harrison as a Managing Director with the Insurance and Risk Advisory Services practice. He is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.  Mr. Harrison’s Washington, D.C.-based insurance and regulatory practice has become part of A&M’s Insurance and Risk Advisory Services group. 

Harrison brings extensive experience providing highly specialized regulatory, compliance, corporate governance and risk advisory services to insurance companies and their strategic partners. He counsels clients on business and public affairs strategies, business process and operational risk, issue advocacy, corporate governance, the development of regulatory and legislative policy, and market regulation/compliance. 

Harrison has represented and negotiated multiple, multi-state market conduct examinations, including the development and implementation of corrective action measures and remediation plans.

Harrison serves as Executive Director for the Affordable Life Insurance Alliance (ALIA), an independent insurance trade association with the mission to fundamentally reform state laws and regulations governing life insurance reserves.

Harrison served as Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department, Deputy Commissioner of the Delaware Insurance Department and interim Chief Compliance Officer for a Fortune 500 life and health insurance company. Additionally, he worked as a Principal with Navigant Consulting and as a Partner with KPMG LLP, managing the firm’s national insurance regulatory practice.
