NHS, a leading provider of community-based, non-profit education and human services, announced the addition of two new members to the organization’s board of directors: Howard Brod Brownstein, president and CEO of The Brownstein Corporation, and Reginald W. Wilkes, senior vice president for wealth management at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Brownstein is nationally recognized as a turnaround and crisis management professional, and as President and CEO of The Brownstein Corporation, he provides turnaround management and advisory services to companies and their stakeholders. He also provides investment banking and fiduciary services, litigation consulting, investigations and valuations services. With over 25 years of experience, Brownstein has held partnerships and/or senior executive roles in turnaround management firms, where he was responsible for transactional activities, marketing, and business development, in addition to leading turnaround assignments. He regularly serves on a number of boards as a member, chair and committee leader, and has been named a Board Leadership Fellow by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).

He currently serves on the boards of A.M. Castle & Co., a global metals distribution firm, PICO Holdings, a diversified holding company, and P&F Industries, a manufacturer of air-powered tools and residential hardware. He has also served as the sole board member for fashion designer and retailer Betsey Johnson LLC, as well as board chair of the National Philanthropic Trust and JEVS Human Services. Brownstein is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania, and holds M.B.A and a J.D degrees from Harvard University.

Wilkes is a former NFL linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons. During his 10-year NFL career, Wilkes worked for Merrill Lynch during the off seasons as a financial advisor. Following his retirement from the NFL in 1988, Wilkes opened an investment banking advisory firm, which specialized in investment and lifestyle management services for professional athletes. He returned to Merrill Lynch in 2007 and founded the “Wilkes Sports Management and Advisory Group.” As a senior vice president, he is committed to building personal relationships with clients, which also include lawyers, business owners, and physicians, and works to prepare them for financial success. Wilkes is a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he also played football, and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame and its honor society, ANAK, upon graduation.
