BBVA Compass has appointed banking industry veteran Ryan Parker as its new San Antonio CEO, where he will lead the market's commercial banking and small business operations, the local Global Wealth team and manage the local advisory board.

Parker has been in the industry for 11 years, with a background in the commercial line of business. Since joining BBVA Compass in 2012 as a corporate relationship manager, he has been the bank's market leader in total commercial production, and has assisted in overall strategies in client relationship development. He was previously the bank's commercial banking manager.

"Ryan has been leading our commercial banking team in San Antonio since the beginning of the year, and has shown time and again that he's up for the challenge of moving the bank forward towards a bright future," said BBVA Compass Texas Regional Executive Jeff Dudderar. "He knows San Antonio well and has called the Alamo City home for 16 years. Our clients trust him, and he's built a solid team that has strengthened our local operations."

Before joining BBVA Compass, Parker was a vice president of commercial lending for Lone Star National Bank, a role he held for two years after serving as an assistant relationship manager for Frost. Parker currently serves on the United Communities of San Antonio board, and holds a bachelor's of business administration degree in finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The promotion comes at a time when the bank's city headquarters changed its address to the Weston Centre, becoming a part of city's downtown landscape with prominent signage on top of the building. The bank signed a lease in May 2016, and currently occupies more than 9,000 square feet of the first floor for a retail branch and more than 19,000 square feet on the second floor for corporate offices.
