Stroock added partner Michael S. Kosmas to the firm’s D.C. office. A leader in real estate and corporate law for the hospitality industry, Kosmas joins from Kelley Drye & Warren, where he was Deputy Chair of its Global Hospitality and Leisure practice.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael to our leading national Real Estate practice, where his experience with complex hospitality industry transactions will further enhance the services we provide to our clients across the country,” said Jeff Keitelman, Stroock’s co-managing partner and co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group.

“Michael’s market insight and experience in counseling major hospitality investors and operators is an invaluable differentiator for our diverse client base,” he said.

Kosmas has represented some of the world’s largest hotel owners and operators in the drafting and negotiation of complex franchise and management contracts, as well as matters involving the development, acquisition, disposition and financing of hotel and resort properties across the globe. His industry work also includes structuring of sophisticated transactions not only for owners, operators and developers, but also for investors and lenders as well.

“Stroock’s Real Estate practice offers a sophisticated national platform that will complement my work in the hospitality sector,” said Kosmas. “Stroock’s commitment to substantive excellence, client service and collegial culture made it a perfect destination.”

Over his career, Kosmas devoted significant pro bono efforts to the Archdiocese of Washington and Catholic Charities. Prior to private practice, he spent nearly a decade as a senior aide to late U.S. Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley.

Kosmas earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. from Loyola College in Maryland.
