Atlantic Capital Appoints Industry Vet as SVP of Corporate Banking

June 07, 2017, 08:00 AM

Ken Harris, who forged his seasoned career in North and South Carolina through SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and Wells Fargo, will be the latest addition to the new Charlotte office of Atlantic Capital.

Harris is now Senior Vice President in Corporate Banking with Atlantic Capital. He will use his veteran proficiency in developing strategic credit and risk management solutions for mid-market corporate clients in the Greater Charlotte market and across the Carolinas.

“After decades of working with large, national banks, I look forward to working at a mid-size bank like Atlantic Capital,” Harris said. “Given our size, I will be able to better meet the personal and business needs of my clients. It’s going to be a thrill to work more closely with businesses that make North Carolina and South Carolina great.”

Harris has 39 years of commercial and corporate banking experience across the Carolinas. He spent the first 36 years of his career with Wachovia, which later became Wells Fargo, supporting mid-market, privately held companies.

Before joining Atlantic Capital, Harris served SunTrust Robinson Humphrey from 2013 to 2016 as a managing director of the Mid-Atlantic corporate and investment banking team. Harris also worked as Senior Vice President in SunTrust Bank’s Commercial Banking Group, based in Charlotte.

Mark DeMarcus, Atlantic Capital Bank Carolinas Market President, said Harris was the right hire to grow and cultivate Atlantic Capital’s presence in the Carolinas.

“Ken has built his career on developing long-lasting relationships based on mutual trust, commitment and loyalty, and we’re excited for him to continue his legacy of work with us at Atlantic Capital,” DeMarcus said.

Harris dedicates his free time to bettering the community. He is the former Chair and current Advisory Council Member of the Carolinas Medical Center – Union Hospital. He is a board member and member of the marketing committee of the Charlotte Regional Partnership. Ken is a member of the Charlotte Association for Corporate Growth. He is also a board member of the Charlotte Steeplechase Association.

Harris graduated with a B.S. in business administration from East Carolina University and is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Banking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Harris also holds his series 7, 63 and 79 FINRA licenses.
